Like the wheels on the bus it spins a round and a round and a round and like the engergizer bunny it just keeps going and going and going......
Easy to install and setup, works just fine. WD is normally a decent quality item. Not bad for the price.

| I recently installed this drive in an older HP notebook that began life with an 80GB HDD. I thought that when I slipped in a 120GB that I had pushed the limit but then learned I could go to at least a 320GB HDD on nearly any PC so I gave it a try. Not knowing any "best" way to turn up a new drive, I simply installed my basic Win XP OS and then did a recovery from a Ghost image I had just created from my old drive. Went as smooth as silk and the drive is great. Quiet, quick, and plenty of room for my needs. Three year warranty is excellent also. I would recommend this drive for anyone seeking to upgrade the capacity of an older notebook/laptop. There are probably better ways to reinstall an OS and data on a new drive but my way worked perfectly. WD drives continue to serve me very well and I'll continue with them for the foreseeable future. I've incidentally long been a fan of Norton's Ghost and it has saved my bacon several times so I'm a true believer in it's worth. As always, Amazon served me very well in this purchase. Good price and very fast delivery (free also). |

| i gave this 3 stars on price vs value because you can nearly get a 500gb sata drive for the price of this ide one? but when your old laptop takes an ide drive thank goodness these are around! i have owned many other hard drives in my computer building time here on earth and i have had each and every one of them fail! that is except WD to date i have never had one of these drives fail on me and i have been tinkering with computers for 10 years now. so i guess thanks Western Digital, and amazon please lower your prices? :o) |

| These IDE laptop drives are getting hard to find locally. But who needs that when for less money I can get one at my door, usually in two days! Just wish I could find a bulk rate for 6 to 10 at a time! |

I installed this little baby into my 2005 Mac Mini which had experienced hard-drive failure. While cracking open the Mac Mini is not an easy task at all, this hard-drive worked perfectly once I got it in. It fired up right away with no trouble at all. It just needed to be partitioned using Disk Utility and then it was ready to receive the system software. It has now been in service for about a month and has functioned without any problems. And the price rocked, too.
